ICOSH

Since 1994 the ICOSH program has organized an extensive safety and health education and awareness program reaching out to construction social partners and policy makers in several countries around the world. The program was funded by two, five-year grants from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) through the Center for Construction Research and Training, and also received USAID funding to organize regional conferences in Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America and the MENA region. Also the ICOSH developed an interactive safety and health training program in Arabic which is currently used to train construction workers in Egypt, and in 2004 the ICOSH established an international protocol for construction safety and health data collection which has been used to analyze construction safety and health conditions in several countries, including Egypt, Brazil, El Salvador, Slovakia, Ireland and Italy. ICOSH international partners have included the ILO Safe Work, the World Health Organization, the International Social Security Association and the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction.
